San Francisco...one couple's perspective

Everyone did their own thing today - most went out for Rijstaffel supper tonight but we had our anniversary supper at The Spinnaker in Sausalito - we were back first...

After the five of us sat on one of thse buses for an hour and a half, we were quite chilled so stopped to grab a coffee and something to eat at an ourdoor cafe featuring "heaters" for us to warm ourselves by - these guys in the picture below were wishing they had marshmellows to roast.

This is Lombard street - aka  the crookedest street in San Francisco.  It was pointed out to us on our bus tour so after coffee we decided to climb to the top and see for ourselves what it was like.  Switchbacks to slow the traffic down - the flowerbeds are looked after by those who live in the area there.

The view from the top of the street - we made it to the top, a good workout for the ticker - going down was a good workout as well.

We finally had a good view of Alcatraz - it's still in the distance but we could see it.

Hopefully you can see the Golden Gate in the background - coming back from Sausalito, we saw it in it's full glory or as our busdriver said, "she's finally lifted her skirt for the first time today."  The bus didn't stop for us to take a photo.

We say farewell to Curt tonight - he's leaving us bright and early tomorrow morning to fly back to Edmonton - too bad work calls him back.  Joanne is going to miss him as are the rest of us.  It's been fun to have Curt along - we will miss his laugh....
